General Assistance (GA):
Who is it for? This state-mandated program is for single adults who do not qualify for benefits from Social Security or the Department of Human Services.
What does it offer? It provides an ongoing monthly grant if you have no income and are currently seeking employment or waiting for a determination on disability benefits.

GENERAL ASSISTANCE APPLIACTION
Emergency Assistance (EA):
Who is it for? Residents who meet our income guidelines and are facing a sudden financial crisis
What does it offer? Help with urgent expenses like rent, mortgage, or when you have a disconnect notice for essential utilities (gas, electric, and/or water).

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE CHECKLIST
Who is it for? Assists low-income households by offsetting the rising cost of home energy through direct financial assistance. An overdue bill or disconnect notice is not required to receive LIHEAP. Households, regardless of citizenship status, that meet the household's combined gross income for the 30 days prior to application must be at or below 60% of the State Median Income and provide documents required to determine eligibility.What does it offer? LIHEAP helps with heating or cooling costs by providing a one-time credit on gas and electric bills during the program year. Payment is made directly to the utility company.
