Stronger Together

About CERT
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) empowers residents with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to assist their neighbors and support first responders during emergencies. Through training, teamwork, and community engagement, CERT strengthens preparedness, builds resilience, and helps keep DuPage County safer and more connected.

CERT is more than emergency training, it’s a commitment to service, and showing up when our community needs support most.

Why Join CERT?

In times of catastrophic disaster, your neighborhood will rely on its own strength during those critical early moments. People are naturally inclined to help one another, but without proper training, they risk their own safety and that of others.

Experience demonstrates that equipping citizens with basic training in disaster survival and rescue skills greatly enhances their chances of survival until first responders can arrive.
Learn practical skills to assist your fellow residents and support first responders during emergencies through our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Course.

This nationally recognized program equips participants with hands-on training to respond safely and effectively during incidents ranging from severe weather to unexpected community events. Beyond preparedness, CERT fosters confidence, connection, and a shared commitment to keeping DuPage County resilient.

  • Learn basic disaster response skills to protect your family.
  • Learn how to safely assist others until first responders arrive.
  • Learn how to remain calm, prepared, and effective under pressure.
  • Feel less helpless and more capable in crisis situations.

No prior experience is required,  just a willingness to learn, serve, and support the community.
