Clerk Dan Bailey
As Milton Township Clerk, Dan Bailey is dedicated to transparent and accurate information regarding Milton Township’s operations. He is responsible for ensuring the public has access to all minutes and agendas that document the actions taken by the Township’s Elected Board. In the Clerk’s role, he also serves as the Freedom of Information Officer, playing a vital role in the Township.

Dan Bailey grew up in DuPage as the oldest of 9 siblings in Villa Park and Elmhurst, attending Montini High School. After a decade in Cook County, Bailey returned to DuPage County, raising his three daughters and enjoying time with his five grandchildren.
"The focus of my work, as Township Clerk, is to make the township more transparent and let residents know what is going on in their local government. For instance, early in my tenure, we made sure board packets and videos of Milton Township meetings were readily accessible on our website. I will keep raising the bar for communicating promptly with clarity and accuracy," promises Clerk Bailey.
Professional Background. Clerk Bailey retired after over 30 years as a Railroad Engineer on the Burlington Northern and then the Wisconsin Central Railroads. In his second career, he was a nurse working in long-term care and at a local free clinic, DuPage Community Clinic.
Community Involvement. Dan has been active in social justice, environmental, and union causes for most of his life. Bailey has held various local official roles in unions, including: Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE) Division 645 Secretary & Treasurer, BLE Division 32 Legislative Representative, and Founding President of BLE Division 184, where he helped start a union for the largest nonunion railroad in America. He also served as President of District 19 of the Illinois Nurses Association and is currently a member of the National Nurses United Union. Dan held board positions with: Chicago Area Committee on Occupational Safety and Health, IVIIPO in Little Village, People’s Resource Center, and DuPage Community Clinic. Dan is also a member and a past Religious Education Instructor at DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church in Naperville.
Education. Clerk Bailey holds an Associate’s Degree in General Studies and one in Applied Nursing, both from College of DuPage
