Milton Township Celebrates America’s 250th Birthday with 250 Acts of Service Initiative
Milton Township - May 18th 2026 – In anticipation of our nation’s 250th birthday, Milton Township proudly invites residents to reflect, celebrate, and inspire civic pride. To mark this historic milestone, the township is excited to announce its initiative, “250 Acts of Service.” Throughout 2026, residents are encouraged to honor our nation by engaging in acts of kindness and service within the community.
Milton Township Supervisor Buffy Higgins Beard, the driving force behind this multi-town initiative, stated, “This moment in time should encourage us to reflect on our nation’s journey, appreciate the diverse contributions of all Americans, and envision a brighter future. Together, let's take this opportunity to honor America's vibrant history and come together as a community to evoke positivity.”
What is “250 Acts of Service” ?
Rather than simply participating in parades or posting on social media to celebrate America's birthday, Milton Township aims to foster unity and create a positive impact. Milton Township Clerk Dan Bailey kicked off the #Milton250Acts by donating onion plants to the Milton Township Food Pantry to distribute to residents so they can grow their own!
Other examples of acts of service include:
- Removing litter from local public spaces
- Writing thank-you cards to active-duty military members or veterans
- Donating blood or organizing a blood drive
- Training and assisting with the Community Emergency Response Team
- Helping your neighbors with yard work or chores
- Donating food or garden produce to your local food pantry
- Reaching out with a call to someone you know who may be struggling
Share your Service
Residents can share their act of service using #milton250acts on social media, or they can head to shorturl.at/kXDth to submit their service via the online forum.
Those who complete an act of service will receive a 250 acts of service certificate and a thank you gift voucher.
