Michael Zafran was born in Hammond, Indiana, and attended St. Mary's Grade School, Hammond High School, and Purdue University, where he studied Chemical Engineering Technology. He also studied design at Prairie State College, earning certification as a Certified Kitchen Cabinet Designer. After a distinguished 50-year career in the kitchen and bath industry, Michael retired as co-owner of Showcase Kitchen and Bath in Downers Grove.Michael's deep commitment to preserving Civil War history led him to the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW). Through his friendship with Bob Jacobsen, he joined the Friends of the Pioneer Cemeteries of Milton Township, where he now serves as Chairman. He organizes and serves as Master of Ceremonies for the annual memorial ceremonies at all three Pioneer Cemeteries in Milton Township.
Michael is the Past Commander of PH Sheridan Camp #2 in Aurora and currently serves as the Department Commander for the State of Illinois SUVCW, overseeing 11 camps. He is also a Commissioner for the Grand Army of the Republic Hall and Military Museum in Aurora.
An active member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville, Michael serves as both cantor and choir member.
Michael and his wife, Dr. Anna Quinzio-Zafran, reside in Shorewood, Illinois. They have one daughter, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Though they live outside Milton Township, Michael and Anna remain committed to supporting the important work of Supervisor Higgins-Beard and her staff.
